I leaned back against the cement wall outside of school, stretching my arms behind me before doing so. Smoke floated up in the air from the end of my cigarette which was dangling from the corner of my mouth. School had just gotten out and I was watching as people ran around the courtyard, playing frisbee. Part of me wanted to join in, but I knew that they were a tight-knit group of friends, and if were to intrude, it would be awkward. So I stayed put, not wanting to go home and smoking a cigarette, longing to have a group of friends like that to play frisbee with.

I sat in the window sill of the empty arts room, working on my yarn project during lunch. Making blankets with crochet hooks was always fun for me - I never got bored doing it. But it sure got lonely to be in here everyday at lunch time with no one to talk to or hang out with. I needed to make friends soon or I was going to go crazy.

I let out the softest of sighs as I ran my fingers through my hair and crouched more over my notebook. I'd fallen behind in my Earth science class and so I was working hard to get my grades up. Right now I was working on a paper about the ocean and the different kinds of life it supports.
 
When I heard a knock on my door, I chewed on the inside of my cheek and sat up. "It's open."

I ran my fingers through my hair, going over the script for the production of Peter Pan that we were going to be putting on for the elementary schools in the area. I'd scored the role of Peter, obviously. Closing my eyes, I said the lines I needed to memorize on this page to myself before opening them to check and see if I'd gotten them right. I sighed when I'd messed up some of them.
 
It was a lot easier to practice your lines when you had someone else to practice with you.

Will~//
I rushed down the crowded halls with my head down, refusing to make eye contact with anyone. The phone call I'd just received was starting to rule my emotions and I couldn't stay here... I couldn't. I needed to get outside and hide from anyone I didn't want to cry in front of. And honestly, that was the entire world.
 
As soon as I was outside, I bolted, running straight for the forest and letting the tears flow freely down my flushed cheeks. And I didn't stop running until I was out of breath. When I took a few steps towards a log I could sit on, my foot got caught in the underbrush and I cried out as I fell to the ground, my hands catching my fall but getting scraped up really badly. At this point I was sobbing and didn't want to move any further, so I curled up right where I was on the forest floor.
 
Losing your little brother can do that to a girl.

My eyes scanned the cafeteria and I bit my lip, walking through the aisles of tables, looking for a clear one to sit at. With my luck I would probably have to sit on the steps out front again. I guess that's what I get for leaving class late to finish up a paper before going to lunch. I could've finished it later.
 
But really, I couldn't have. My parents would have been so mad at me if I'd turned it in late. I'm expected to have higher than average grades seeing as I'm such a math whiz and a "model student".
